These courses provide students with the specialised skills and knowledge required to obtain a senior role in the horticulture industry.

Studying horticulture provides students with skills in landscape management, plant care and propagation. Students will also gain skills in pruning and fertilising enabling them to maintain lawns, gardens, nurseries and forest parks.

The course framework in the Certificates III & IV and the Diploma, ensures you will get the most out your studies by covering plant health, budgets, managing projects and analysing data.

Upon graduation, you will have gained the skills to give specialist advice on plant care, products and treatments. You will also obtain knowledge of how to manage and market a business and how to supervise staff.

  1. Course may include 360 hours of vocational placement.
  2. Academic requirement: Completion of Australian Year 10 OR overseas equivalent.
  3. English language evidence
      • IELTS, PTE, etc. (IELTS: 6.0 overall – no band less than 5.5; OR equivalent). The test result must be valid within 2 years at the time of the visa application.
      • Some Education Institutions offer an in-house English Placement Test that you can take to meet the English entry requirements.
      • Exemptions apply if:
        – you are a citizen and hold a passport from UK, USA, Canada, NZ or Republic of Ireland
        – you are enrolled in a principal course of study that is a registered school course, a standalone English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS), a course registered to be delivered in a language other than English, or a registered post-graduate research course
        – you have completed at least 5 years of study in English in one or more of the following countries: Australia, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, or the Republic of Ireland.

Employment in the busy Horticulture industry including working independently, as a supervisor, or at a managerial level to coordinate horticultural business activities in parks and gardens, resorts or nurseries.
