Recent Student visa changes to Australia

There were several changes to student visas introduced in 2024. The media hyped up a lot of these changes as they were coming into play, however, from what we have seen, are not as dramatic as they were made to be. This video will outline some of the most common changes.

 The Genuine Student Requirement replaced the Genuine Temporary Entrant
Requirement.
 English Requirement increased from IELTS 5.5 to IELTS 6. However, this is not
required for many nationalities, especially if your country is a low-risk country such
many EU countries.
 Countries and Colleges Changed Assessment Levels. Colleges and nationalities are rated on a system of 1 – 3, with 1 being the best and 3 being the worst. This resulted in many countries having to provide finances and proof of English skills before applying for a student visa

Overall, the changes were overstated. The biggest changes were the assessment levels, which usually change every 6 months
