I Studied Business, Do I have a path to PR?
A Bachelor’s or Master of Business is not the best course to study in Australia if you intend to gain PR in Aus. However, this course does allow you to gain a graduate work visa when you finish the course. The issue is it doesn’t skill you for too many specific occupations that are in high demand. We often have consultations with applicants who are studying this course and then want to know their PR options.
Here are a few options that we can recommend:
General Skilled Migration:
– You can potentially look to pass a skill assessment in the occupation of Management Consultant, or Organisation and Methods Analyst. However, you would need to find employment in your field for at least 1 year to pass a skill assessment. By doing this, you can build your work experience in this field whilst being on the Graduate Work Visa.
Employer Sponsorship:
– If you can find a company to sponsor your visa, you could potentially look at applying for the standard employer-sponsored visa or a training visa. However, please note, that you will need to uphold relevant qualifications plus 2 years of work experience to do a standard employer-sponsored visa. The Training visa will only require 1 year of relevant work experience.
Study a Course with better PR prospects and NO Work Experience Requirements to pass a skill assessment:
– If you cannot find an employer, another option is to look to study a course that is actually in demand and requires no post-qualification work experience. We would recommend something like Teaching, Social Work, or Nursing. For an occupation like Teaching, you can complete a Graduate Diploma in only 1 year and pass a skill assessment with no work experience. This will open your PR pathway. Not everyone wants to study again if they have just finished a bachelor’s. However, if you want to increase your chance of gaining PR, this could be a good option.
