Health Administration

This course focuses on practical learning and will provide you with the skills to undertake a range of administrative tasks relevant to the health services.

Students will receive the practical skills and knowledge to become a supervisor for a human resources, medical records, or health services team. The health sector is experiencing strong job growth and this course will give you the transferable skills to manage an administrative team in a diverse range of settings

Students will learn the technical skills to:

  • Interpret and apply medical terminology
  • Complete highly complex clinical coding
  • Promote innovation in a team environment
  • Support the recruitment, selection and induction of staff
  • Manage health billing and accounting systems
  • Coordinate the implementation of customer service strategies

You will be taught the legal and ethical requirements within the health industry, including how to work with culturally diverse clients and manage patient records.

This course is also suitable if you provide administrative functions in health and medical services where you are required to work autonomously or as a senior member of staff in an administrative team.

  1. Students need to be at least 18 years old.
  2. Academic requirement: Completion of Australian Year 10 OR overseas equivalent.
  3. Present English language proficiency evidence
      • IELTS, PTE, etc. (IELTS: 6.0 overall – no band less than 5.5; OR equivalent). The test result must be valid within 2 years at the time of the visa application
      • Some Education Institutions offer an in-house English Placement Test that you can take to meet the English entry requirements.
      • Exemptions apply if:
        – you are a citizen and hold a passport from UK, USA, Canada, NZ or Republic of Ireland
        – you are enrolled in a principal course of study that is a registered school course, a standalone English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS), a course registered to be delivered in a language other than English, or a registered post-graduate research course
        – you have completed at least 5 years of study in English in one or more of the following countries: Australia, UK, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, or the Republic of Ireland.
